“My P60 said I had paid £11,670 in income tax for the year 2024/25.

I clicked all the buttons on the Cfarertax web form and got enough “Yes’s” to submit my application for a rebate utilising the HMRC Seafarers Earnings Deduction scheme.

I clicked send and waited with great anticipation of receiving a refund for £11670. Which would go a long way to help me get my first home

Within a few days Cfarertax had done some checks and duly submitted my claim as I had hoped. The big suprise was the repayment due was for £13,060. Significantly more than I expected.

Cfarertax did explain why, and how, the sum became higher, but I didn’t understand it.

It took a while to get the payment because apparently my previous tax history was a bit untidy as I had missed a few years of self assessment during my ‘yachting years’, so HMRC had to do extra checks.

Because of the extra time it took them to make the checks, which was about six weeks…. they paid me interest on the £13,060, which added another £390 to my repayment.

Overall, my claim increased from £11,670 to £13,450

Thank you Cfarertax. Not only did you process my claim expediently and efficiently, you got me more than I expected. Thank you

Congratulations on your (expected) successful claim.”
